The Baroque Opera of the 18th century was a medium of affective expression and it created the phenomenon of the singer star that audiences still follow today. The whole Europe wanted to experience great singers like Carlo Broschi (Farinelli), Francesco Bernardi (Senesino), Faustina Bordoni or Francesca Cuzzoni.

The Aria da capo form provides the perfect set up for the singer to shine, as it obliges them to show all their technical, improvisational and stylistic skills.

Rūta Vosyliūtė has dedicated her doctoral studies to the extensive study of the aria da capo performance and is holding recitals and master-courses on this subject. Her choice of the title "Dramma da capo" (drama from the beginning) leads to René Descarte’s approach to mimesis: the repetition gives space for reflection, which is a constant development, as it both intensifies and also changes the nature of the existing passion. The audience will be invited to dive in the Baroque theatricality of the multitude of affects.

Tickets: 8, 10, 12, 15 €
